Phantasm (1979)

Wow, can't believe I'd never seen Phantasm (1979)! 🤣 There was a lot going on in this movie, to say the least. Lots of jump scares, which I normally find very tacky, but this was old school and effective. Loved the 70s aesthetic, and the fact that the 13-year-old kid is driving around town and using a shotgun. Some fun practical effects too. Awesome. Also, the soundtrack was crazy good! I thought it was Goblin (sounded so much like Suspiria), but it was apparently Fred Myrow and Malcolm Seagrave.

The Conjuring (2013)

Terra and I watched The Conjuring (2013). It was definitely scary, even though Terra and I are #verybrave. 😂 However, this is my least favorite kind of horror, aka jump scare. Definitely could not enjoy a second time, and therefore, do not recommend.

We Are What We Are (2013)

UPDATE: In the final assessment, I think this is not a good movie. It lacks depth. And in the end, mostly jump scares, and grotesque and uninventive violence.

Whoa We Are What We Are (2013) was super goddamn intense. Not too many movies leave me with heart pounding, thinking about puking. 😳 (Last one was the insane 2017 short film Julkita, which remains the most f*cked up thing I've ever seen.) Not sure yet if I think this was actually a GOOD movie tho... gonna have to let this one sit for a minute...

Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016)

Autopsy of Jane Doe had a reasonably creative premise, and definitely had me on the edge of my seat, but in the end, cursed to be just another #jumpscarefail.

It (2017)

It was definitely compelling while watching, but I don't like horror movies that have so many jump scares... Not a good movie.
