Handsome Guys (2024) was such a cute movie. A delightful remake of the (ultimately forgettable) Tucker and Dale Versus Evil (2010), with a Korean and occult spin. The over the top CGI was enjoyable in context. No chills or thrills in this one, but lots of aws, mostly due to a cute pup, and a very adorable dynamic with big softie Park Sang-goo (Lee Hee-joon) and "kidnapped" student Kim Mi-na (Gong Seung-yeon). Would recommend.
Jacob's Ladder (1990) was a tense psychological thriller, though I'd term it a drama rather than a horror film. I don't watch war movies so this was out of my normal comfort zone. It was a smart, sad, movie, though I wish the limited horror elements had figured more prominently... those parts were my favorites.
Penda's Fen is provocative, radical even, in its treatment of religion, sexuality, capitalism, and society. The production value was atrocious, however, and the copy I saw was probably even worse, looked like a VHS recording. (Ripe for a remake!!) I wouldn't really call this a horror film, although there were some creepy and shocking scenes.
